Who are we?

Graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and now Scotland’s leading young freelance professionals, our players have performed in arenas with mainstream acts including Kayne West, Rod Stewart, Susan Boyle, Ronan Keating, Evanescence, Foy Vance, Andrea Bocelli, Alfie Boe, Katherine Jenkins, Belle & Sebastian, Twin Atlantic, Ben Folds, Eddie Reader & Nick Howard. We also work with orchestras including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Ballet, Manchester Camerata, London Symphony Orchestra, The Halle and Northern Sinfonia.


We play regularly in all of Scotland’s leading wedding and events venues including Cameron House, Mar Hall, Oran Mor, Cottiers, Ingliston Country Club, Lodge On Loch Goil, Lodge On Loch Lomond, Dundas Castle, Auchen Castle, Carlowrie Castle, Glynhill Hotel, Duns Castle, Old Fruitmarket, House For An Art Lover, Blythswood Hotel, St Andrews In The Square, The Lighthouse, Crutherland House, Seamill Hydro, Crieff Hydro, Lochside Hotel, Turnberry Hotel, Piersland Hotel, Glenbervie House, Glenskirlie House, Merchant’s House, Principal Hotel, Caledonian Hotel, Balmoral Hotel, Boclair House, Hotel Du Vin, Grand Central Hotel, Crossbasket Castle, Mansfield Traquair and the Signet Library. Daniel Paterson

Originally from Edinburgh, Daniel studied with Nigel Murray, Olivier Lemoine & Justine Watts. Groups he’s performed with include the BBC SSO, RSNO, Scottish Opera, London Concertante, Manchester Camerata, Scottish Chamber Music Players & Ambassador Theatre Group. He's performed as part of Colours Classical, Hacienda Classical, The Ministry Of Sound's 'Annual Classical', 2014 Commonwealth Games & BBC's 'Biggest Weekend'. He freelances for Scottish Ballet & has worked with artists including Andrea Bocelli, Katherine Jenkins, Evanescence, Belle & Sebastian & Faithless. He's also set to appear (briefly!) in season 5 of HBO's Outlander.


Anja Ormiston

Anja studied privately with Uli Fenner before joining the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Junior Conservatoire, where she was awarded the Nan Christie Memorial Prize. Following this she studied at the RCS with Gina McCormack, continuing to play in various projects including the Scottish Opera mentoring scheme. Anja is currently studying for her masters degree on viola with Andrea Gajic.


Elias Rooney

Elias David Rooney studied with Robert Irvine at the RCS before furthering his studies privately with Andreas Brantelid in Copenhagen and Natalie Clein in London. He has appeared with mainstream acts such as Ronan Keating, Alfie Boe, Katherine Jenkins and Belle & Sebastian. Elias works regularly with English National Opera, Scottish Ballet, the Ulster Orchestra and RTÉ Concert Orchestra.


Sasha Buettner

Sasha is originally from Colorado USA, where she studied privately with Margaret Miller before studying at Boston University with Karen Ritscher and Daniel Dona. Currently, she is on the masters programme at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the American violist scholarship studying with Duncan Ferguson. She competed at the Cavatina Intercollegiate Competition in London, and played in master classes for the Borromeo and Muir Quartets, Paul Colletti, Jeffrey Irvine, David Dolan, Victoria Chang, and Susan Dubois.


Emily Nenniger

Originally from Calgary Canada, Emily started playing the violin at the age of 4 before moving to study at the Colburn School in Los Angeles and later at the San Francisco Conservatoire with Ian Swensen. Since moving to Europe she has held orchestral positions in Berlin and Sweden and has now settled in Glasgow. Emily currently plays for the Irish Chamber Orchestra and Scottish Ballet.


Balázs Renczés

Originally from Hungary, Balázs initially studied with György Déri at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest then with Robert Irvine at the RCS in Glasgow. He has performed concertos with several professional orchestras and has won various competitions including the Agimus for Premio Citta di Padova. At the age of 21, he was offered a trial for Principal Cello of Scottish Opera. Additionally he has appeared with the Scottish Ensemble at the Wigmore Hall and is currently on trial for Principal Cello No. 2 in the BBC Concert Orchestra, London. He is a beneficiary of the Suggia Award by Help Musicians UK.


Abigail Young

Abigail is currently studying privately with Andrea Gajic. During her time at RCS she was awarded the Mabel Glover Chamber Music Prize, competed at the Cavatina Intercollegiate Competition in London & performed at the Leeds Chamber Music Series. She has recently performed at the Cantelina Music Festival, the NJO Muziekzommer in the Netherlands & with the BBC SSO. She has also worked alongside popular artists such as Phil Cunningham, Susan Boyle a& Mick Harvey.


Heather Lynn

Heather Lynn has studied with Betsy Taylor, David Connell, Aleksei Kiseliov & Alison Wells. Since graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Heather maintains a busy freelance career including teaching and working with Live Music Now. Heather has worked alongside popular artists such as Katherine Jenkins, Phil Cunningham & Echo and the Bunnymen.
